• Emissions and fuel pollution: Older or less efficient engines can release unburned fuel or oil into water, and exhaust emissions into the air, both of which can harm marine life and water quality. 

• Noise and disturbance: The roar of engines can disrupt wildlife, especially birds and marine animals that depend on sound for communication or hunting.
